Sandringham claim 3rd successive VFL flag

News

SEW-EURODRIVE would like to congratulate Sandringham Football Club, VFL premiers for the 3rd year in a row!

SEW and Sandringham have a long-standing partnership which ranges back from before the glorious premiership days. As major sponsor of the Sandringham Zebras, SEW-EURODRIVE is extremely proud of this highly successful team.

It takes great motivation and drive to continue to strive to reach the pinaccle of the competition year after year, and every credit must go to Mark Williams and his troops for their hard work and determination to not only reach the grand final for the third year running, but to also take the honours on a day when the game could have gone either way.

Leading by 34 points at the final change, Sandringham seemed safe to claim it's third straight flag. But a stunning final term by the cats, lead by forwards Kent Kingsley and Nathan Ablett, saw the lead chopped to just 6 points. When it seemed as if the Zebras were flat on their heals, staring defeat in the face, VFL back pocket of the year Andy Biddlecombe, who had not kicked a goal for 2 years, floated forward to kick the steadier. He followed it up with another minutes later.

Just as the 2004 premiership was dedicated to the late Troy Broadbridge, lost in the terrible tsunami in Thailand, coach Mark Williams dedicated the three-peat effort to the club's president Gary Gilchrist who tragically passed away in July. Gary was also a great friend of SEW-Eurodrive and will be missed greatly.
