According to SEW-Eurodrive Strategic Marketing and Product Manager, Darren Klonowski, the new ASEPTIC motor series has been
specifically developed for demanding drive applications where sanitation is paramount. “Fully sealed, the ASEPTIC motor series
has been designed to minimise the ingress of water and particles,” he said. “The SEW-Eurodrive ASEPTIC motor series is perfect
for applications where hygiene is essential, such as those in the food and beverage sector.”
Rated to IP66 as standard, with the option of IP69K (to the DIN 40050-9 standard), the new ASEPTIC motor series is ideal for
the harshest manufacturing environments. The ‘9K’ indicates that the housing is protected against high-pressure wash down,
high-temperature water contact, and can withstand industrial cleaning agents. “SEW-Eurodrive’s new ASEPTIC motor series combines
the latest in AC motor technology together with a high degree of enclosure protection,” said Klonowski. “The smooth ‘self-draining’
housing prevents accumulation of debris, while its advanced surface coating inhibits corrosion.”
The new ASEPTIC motor series is also offered with SEW-Eurodrive’s ASEPTICplus protection package, which provides additional
surface coatings for protection against aggressive cleaning agents and demanding environmental conditions.
The entire ASEPTIC motor range is housed in a uniquely smooth, fully sealed fanless enclosure. “Inherent to the fin-free enclosure
design is a lack of crevices and contaminant trap-points, ensuring debris cannot accumulate on the motor’s surface,” said
Klonowski. “This reduces equipment cleaning times.”
ASEPTIC motor set up, maintenance and changeover has been made easy with straightforward mounting capabilities and electrical
connections. “The ASEPTIC motor series features a plug-in power connection. Time-consuming terminal box wiring can be avoided,
as the connector can be pre-wired before being fitted. This saves time and money,” said Klonowski. “The new motor series has
been tailored for field installation, and complements SEW-Eurodrive’s IP69K-rated decentralised drive system, MOVIFIT.”
The new ASEPTIC motor series simply mounts directly on to the gear unit. “It is particularly easy to mate to SEW-Eurodrive’s
popular 7 Series range of gear units. The 7 Series is available in numerous gear technologies and mounting arrangements, and
is the perfect complement to SEW’s new ASEPTIC motor series.”
