SEW-EURODRIVE into the coalface

News

Wambo Coal Mine has SEW-EURODRIVE to thank for its ground breaking new expansion at its northern New South Wales facility.

From a partnership originally beginning in 2005, SEW have gone on to supply a total of 15 conveyor drives and significantly enhance production facilities within the site.

At the first stage of production and working with design consultant Kinmont Engineers, SEW-EURODRIVE provided three 500kW complete drive assemblies, such as the one to the left of this page. So well received were these drives, that before long another six 600kw drive were commissioned and installed.

Kinmont then came up with the design for a new "clean coal" facility, capable of delivering up to 5,500tph as required and able to blend coals at the final point depending on clients' requirements. This design earned high praise from the Bulk Handling Awards judges. This praise was a direct reflection on SEW-EURODRIVE who supplied yet another 6 conveyor drives with motor power from 45kW to 250kW.

Wambo mine now boasts a state of the art facility thanks to the support from Kinmont and SEW. With SEW's new X-Series of industrial gears due for release in September, the sky is the limit for the mining and other heavy industries.
