On Tuesday September 29th, 2009 SEW-EURODRIVE officially opened its doors to a new sales and service centre in Perth, Western Australia. Located in the industrial suburb of Welshpool, the new premises is manned by a team of highly qualified engineers and experienced technical staff. Featuring on-site assembly, service and training facilities, SEW-Eurodrive’s new sales and service centre also provides industry with premium access to the company’s comprehensive range of motor and drive technologies, expertise and spares.

According to SEW-Eurodrive WA State Manager, Trevor Hughes, the new facility is four times the size of the company’s previous premises and has been purpose-designed to accommodate the assembly and repair of larger-sized complete drive packages. “This 2300-square-metre site features 800 square metres of electrical and mechanical workshops,” he said. “In addition to 16-tonne and five-tonne overhead gantry cranes, we also have a two-tonne jib crane. This heavy-lifting capability—plus the additional workshop space—will facilitate the assembly and repair of larger size drive assemblies.”

This extended capacity will enhance SEW-Eurodrive’s ability to support heavy industry—especially the mining industry. “This is the largest drive-systems assembly and repair facility in the Perth area, and features capacity to hold over $1 million of stock,” said Hughes. “This will enable us to provide a broader level of service and a quicker turnaround. SEW-Eurodrive is genuinely in a league of its own in terms of being able to support the local market place.”

Not content with providing an unparalleled service to its customers, SEW-Eurodrive has also sought to improve its own performance with the new building—its environmental performance. Just as SEW-Eurodrive’s drives solutions can increase the energy efficiency of end users’ processes, so too has the new building has been designed with energy savings in mind—featuring special construction for thermal resistance, and a wall facade system designed to maximise the use of natural light. “Reducing environmental impact has always been a priority to SEW-Eurodrive,” said Hughes. “This new centre will help us to reduce our own carbon footprint as we help the end-users of our drives solutions to reduce theirs.”

The new facility also features a designated training room, enabling in-house training to be provided for up to 20 people at a time. Combined with enhanced access to Perth’s arterial road network, the new premises offers unprecedented access to SEW-Eurodrive’s peerless drive solutions and technical proficiency.
