DEFECT

In-home passenger lifts using frequency inverters that have Firmware 17 installed may exhibit unexpected behaviour during operation.

HAZARD

The equipment fitted with the affected inverter can become jerky, sag or fall uncontrollably when in use, which may result in serious injury.

ACTION REQUIRED

Stop using the affected equipment immediately and contact SEW Eurodrive (see Contact Details section). A technician or representative will visit your home to replace or reload the inverter with Firmware version 16.

SEW Eurodrive MOVITRAC® B Frequency Inverter – all power ratings loaded with Firmware 17, used in lifting/hoisting applications in industrial or commercial settings only

Sold between 10 December 2018 and 18 July 2019

DEFECT

Lifting and hoisting devices using frequency inverters that have Firmware 17 may exhibit unexpected behaviour during operation.

HAZARD

The equipment fitted with the affected inverter can become jerky, sag or fall uncontrollably when lifting/lowering the load, which can cause serious injury.

ACTION REQUIRED

• Stop using the equipment immediately.

• Check whether the inverter has Firmware 17 loaded, by looking at the nameplate on the left side of the inverter (see image). Affected products have a serial number (SO#) ending in 18 or 19 and the first two digits of the Status field is 17 (see image).

• SEW Eurodrive are contacting known customers and will arrange for the replacement or reloading of the inverter with Firmware 16.

• If the product has not been loaded with the Firmware 17 update, no further action needs to be taken
