Over the past 10 years, SEW-EURODRIVE have been developing courses for an ever-changing Australian automation market, where service and maintenance of a product is just as important as installation and commissioning. To celebrate this significant milestone SEW have expanded and developed new training programs in all offices including Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide and Mackay.

SEW-EURODRIVE’s DriveACADEMY® training courses – which incorporate basic theoretical principles and practical exercises – are designed to prepare motor and drive users for tasks and problems they may face during any given working day.

According to Michael Stranieri, SEW-EURODRIVE’s Technical Training Manager, the DriveACADEMY® training courses raise the level of expertise among motor and drive users. Our training environment encourages open discussion and the sharing of ideas, as even the most experienced participants can learn and take away something from the courses.

The courses cover a wide range of topics, including selection and project planning of SEW gearmotors. Product specific courses are also offered, providing insight into the implementation of some of SEW-EURODRIVE’s most popular technologies. “We offer numerous exercises on training models similar to real life examples, while using SEW-EURODRIVE’s state of the art technology. This is beneficial as we help optimise system solutions for more efficient use of your drives leading to minimised downtime.”

“SEW’s most popular courses are the MOVITRAC® B and MOVIDRIVE® B operation, start-up and troubleshooting,” said Stranieri. “The course is tailored for system integrators, project engineers, electricians and service engineers and covers everything from starting up a motor in VFC operating mode to complex analysis and detection of faults and fault finding.”

“The functions associated with the MOVITRAC® B and MOVIDRIVE® B frequency inverter are customer specific and sometimes can only be discovered with hands on training,” said Stranieri. “The troubleshooting component is the most popular as we are able to simulate the majority of inverter and motor specific faults within the course and figure out the best methods of troubleshooting.”
